The successful candidate will join a dynamic team and support our work on climate policy and sustainable finance for the European Commission. We are in particular looking for an individual with a proven track record in the field of carbon removals to support our growing body of work on this topic.You will get the opportunity to work on flagship projects such as the Innovation Fund, studies related to the EU carbon removal certification framework, permitting procedures linked to CCS projects and the transformation of our society towards a net-zero, nature positive and socially just model. Your work will benefit clients such as the European Commission, national governments, and international and national development finance institutions.Our team has built a reputation for the successful delivery of large, complex projects, developing innovative solutions that drive positive change for their clients and support the overall sustainable transition in the EU and beyond. Some of our flagship projects include:Providing continuous expertise since 2019 to support the successful implementation of the EU Emissions Trading System’s Innovation FundSupporting the design of decarbonisation strategies at EU and national levelDesigning Sustainable Finance Action Plans for different EU Member States to redirect public and private capitals towards the low carbon transitionDelivering the European Business and Biodiversity Platform since 2013 for the European CommissionEvaluating the impact of green bonds on supporting climate mitigation investments for the European Investment BankSupporting National Promotional Banks in Poland and Spain with their sustainable finance strategiesResponsibilitiesYou will work as part of a multi-national, multi-disciplinary and collaborative team of climate and environmental experts, economists, engineers, financial experts, and communication specialists to:Manage and deliver a portfolio of projects for public and private clientsProvide robust and sound qualitative and quantitative analysis and lead the translation of complex data into meaningful and impactful recommendationsLead large consultation effort with stakeholders through both quantitative and qualitative approachesTake a leading role in ICF’s business development efforts in the field of climate policy with a particular focus on the large framework contract we manage for the European CommissionTake a leading role ICF’s thought leadership in climate policy, identifying emerging trends and opportunities and help to translate these into new service offers that will benefit clients with a particular focus on carbon removal.Required qualifications & skillsFluency in spoken English and excellent English writing skillsMaster’s degree in climate or environmental sciences, environmental economics, environmental engineering, geology, or a related disciplineExcellent track record in the field of climate policy and recent policy and technical developments linked to carbon removal solutions (both technical and nature based)Strong qualitative and quantitative analysis capabilities, including advanced knowledge of Excel and equivalent toolsExcellent Project Management skills demonstrated by concrete experience of dealing with complex projects and multiple stakeholders in an international environmentExcellent communication skills and track record in the field of stakeholder engagement, especially within public authorities and the business and finance communityAbility to work independently as well as within multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary consulting teams spread across several countries and time zonesProfessional experience of at least 8 yearsPreferred qualifications & skillsFluency in a second EU languageEntrepreneurial mindset eager to innovate and develop new solutions to address the climate and environmental crises.#indeed#LI-CC1Working at ICFICF is a global advisory and technology services provider, but we’re not your typical consultants.
