About BarcoBarco designs technology that makes everyday life a little better. In our Healthcare division, we develop advanced solutions for radiology, surgery, dermatology, and digital pathology. The Barco Labs Healthcare team drives innovation from ideation to clinical validation and commercial launch.Internship OverviewWe offer an exciting internship opportunity for students passionate about artificial intelligence and its application in digital pathology, with a specific focus on control tissue and imaging. This internship includes several project options, each contributing to the development of smarter, more accurate pathology tools. During the screening process, we'll determine which project best matches your interests and skills.Possible Project TracksAI Annotation Contour Refinement
Explore how dynamic programming can refine annotation contours used for training segmentation models. Build a pipeline to improve annotation quality and guide annotators toward the most valuable data.
Stain Unmixing in IHC Slides
Investigate spectral unmixing techniques to quantify stain intensities in immunochemistry-stained slides. Develop methods to handle pixel imbalance and chromophore interference, and evaluate performance across large datasets.
Control Tissue Stain Monitoring Over Time
Use spectral unmixing to monitor stain intensity in control tissue across time. Build a pipeline to extract and register tissue microarray (TMA) data and identify staining quality issues in digital pathology slides.
