LNG unloaded at the terminal can be reloaded in liquid form for consumption worldwide or redelivered in gaseous form for consumption on the Belgian market, trading on the Zeebrugge Hub or transport to other end-user markets in any direction: France, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Southern Europe and the UK.My steep learning curve motivates me and keeps me here- Nick Rys, Product ManagerYour
respon­sibilities
  • Our Zeebrugge LNG terminal is looking for enthusiastic and motivated colleagues to join our teams and support our operational activities:
  • You will be trained as a Ship Operations Engineer (Loading Master), meaning you will be responsible for and able to actively participate in the various LNG ship operations. In addition, you will also receive broad training in the entire LNG process and you will be involved in the other operational activities at the LNG terminal
  • You will learn about the commercial context as well as the contractual obligations with respect to Fluxys and our customers. This will enable you to set the right priorities as well as to engage in substantiated communication with the various internal and external stakeholders, such as colleagues at the LNG terminal, our commercial department, our customers, the shipping companies and ship's crews, the port authorities, the shipping agent and so on
  • As a representative of Fluxys, you will board LNG ships, where you will play the crucial coordinating role of Loading Master between the ship's crew and the Fluxys operational shift team. Accordingly, you will ensure the safe and efficient execution of all activities before, during and after a loading and/or unloading operation
  • Together with your fellow Loading Masters, you will divide LNG ship operations among themselves so that they can continue uninterrupted, both during and outside office hours
  • You will monitor the preparations for and planning and sometimes follow-up of ship operations in close collaboration with the Operations team and your fellow Loading Masters, and you will take care of the relevant administrative and operational tasks
  • You will draw up proposals to improve the safety, efficiency and reliability of the facilities and, once they have been validated, you will help implement them
  • During quieter shipping periods you will manage internal process-related projects, including the improvement, renewal, expansion, automation, etc. of the facilities
  • You will report to the Plant Operations Manager and will be based at our LNG terminal in Zeebrugge

  • A master's degree in engineering or industrial sciences (experience not required), or a sufficiently strong technical profile earned through experience

  • The necessary soft skills and excellent communicative skills with outstanding diplomatic and leadership qualities enabling you to deal with a diverse range of personalities (including various nationalities and cultures in a broad social context)
  • A flexible mindset and the willingness to work in a rotating system of 3 weeks, in which you work 2 weeks with highly fluctuating hours during the week, at night and at weekends. The 3rd week you work in daytime hours
  • An analytical mind which allows you to see the big picture, and solid critical thinking skills
  • Fluent skills in Dutch and English, and a basic knowledge of French
Additionally, this role requires:
