FunctionThe Business Portfolio Manager will be responsible for defining the roadmap of transformation initiatives within the Infrastructure department, in accordance with Elia's strategy, and for supporting its implementation. As such you will develop, facilitate and supervise the process and tools for managing the portfolio of the transformation initiatives, in line with the QBR process. The portfolio of strategic initiatives constituting the transformation roadmap, is organized in different programs and projects. The Business Portfolio Manager supports the different program managers in managing their program and making sure that alignment is performed with the portfolio. This includes developing a project management process / methodology for transformation projects within the Infrastructure department. The Business Portfolio Manager also assumes the role of gate keeper. You will be part of the Center of Excellence (CoE) team within the Portfolio & Program Management Office (P²MO) division, that supports and coaches our program and project managers who build our future grid. This support from P²MO includes (digital) transformation initiatives to increase safety, efficiency & quality to enable the massive investment program required by the energy transition. The Business Portfolio Manager is a key stakeholder to make this (digital) transformation a success.Your duties will include the following:
  • Together with the senior managers and the business architect you will identify the required transformation projects and programs and integrate them in a consistent roadmap. You update this roadmap on a regular base.
  • You will put in place the processes and tools of gathering all the necessary information to support the arbitrage process. You will support the budget and business plan processes.
  • You will build the central Infrastructure reference (projects master data) and guarantee the consistency with the Enterprise portfolio / QBR in order to give an up-to-date status of the transformation to the Transformation Team and support the decision process of the Infra team (director and senior managers). You make sura that the central portfolio management tool (Sciforma) of Elia Group is up to date.
  • You will independently monitor, support and challenge the programs. The Portfolio Management Officer is jointly responsible for estimates and reference data (baselines) for programs (costs, scope, timing) with program managers.
  • In close contact with all Program Managers, you will maintain an overview of the main deliverables and timing in terms of planning and control, overall risk and issue management, resource management, scope and change management, quality management, status reporting, and you will identify (potential) obstacles and problems. You will follow-up & challenge milestones, planning and resources. You will develop all necessary status reports (Milestones monitoring, Budget monitoring, critical resources allocation,…)
  • You will test the progress of the portfolio against the approved baselines and point out deviations and critical processes.
  • You will develop the good practices and contribute to the improvement of the project/program management maturity in the community by applying them. By doing so, you will also contribute to the introduction of a good change management and transformation management practices. You will supervise change assessments so that all the consequences of a change are definitely carefully considered.
  • You will draw up and maintain a risk register and an action plan to limit the risks. You will check the proper execution of the actions defined within the risk mitigation plan.
  • You will continuously improve to the transformation portfolio management office in order to increase impact and focus on the right priorities
Your Profile
  • You hold a master's degree or equivalent experience.
  • You have at least 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in project, program or portfolio management.
  • You have experience in roadmap definition.
  • You are well organized, pro-active and pay attention to details.
  • You should combine the conceptual skills to define a strategic vision with the concrete skills to implement this vision and perform the operational activities afterwards.
  • You are able to reflect with the colleagues on the content and improve your own way of working.
  • You have experience in transversal people management and are capable of being persuasive (both orally and in writing).
  • You have an analytical mind and are an excellent communicator with good presentation skills, especially at senior management level.
  • You are assertive and empathetic, with good active listening skills.
  • You can take initiative and can work independently.
  • You have perfect command of French or Dutch, and can understand the other language.
