If you think you can make a difference to our team, go ahead and apply.About the roleThe Senior Category Lead is managerially responsible for the day-to-day management of the team's operational cadence, including its management, planning, hiring, performance management and goal setting to ensure team effectiveness in driving (profitable) growth. The Senior Category Lead has managerial responsibilities, is a member of the Category Team and reports to the Category Manager or Cluster Director.What you’ll do
  • Have an end-to-end understanding of your category's KPIs and performance, detect variances versus budgeted KPIs and correct them.
  • Develop increasingly deep knowledge to influence decision-making of key (internal and external) stakeholders in order to drive (profitable) growth.
  • Execute the Category Strategy, provide input by request of the Category Manager and influence decisions on budget and headcount.
  • Execute the auction planning, monitor quality guidelines and ensure effective resource planning.
  • Apply commercial processes and incentive tools in order to develop sellers and drive (profitable) growth.
  • Ensure you and your team have a deep understanding of Catawiki's commercial processes and seller incentive schemes.
  • Execute job interviews, performance appraisals and drive personal development of the Expert team: you are responsible for recruitment, employee wellbeing, people engagement, holiday planning, performance management, training, quality guidelines etc.
  • Have regular 1:1’s to manage, train, motivate, guide and coach the Expert team.
  • Manage the weekly Expert Team Meeting.
  • Shape an inclusive culture in your team and lead by example.
What you’ll bring
  • Minimum 5 years experience leading a category or running a business, being able to translate KPIs into actionable plans and strategies
  • Experience with Supply & Demand planning cycles
  • Commercial procedures and negotiation strategies aimed at optimizing inventories and maximising the category growth
  • Experience with managing a team of people, ensuring the smooth running of weekly operations (managing teams remotely is a plus)
  • Working in a target-driven environment, motivating teams while ensuring quality standards are met at all times
  • Experience working with online / offline auctions and or within digital marketplaces/e-commerce environment
  • Experience with CX procedures
  • Knowledge of trade prices in order to comfortably assess, discuss or object (if needed) the quality of lots going into auction and periodically review internal Quality Guidelines for loose Diamonds & Gemstones
  • Gemmology Degree, from a well-recognised International Institute (eg. GIA, HRD, IGI) is a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (Master’s preferred)
