The role involves advising on legal changes in the transport sector, conducting compliance assessments of the customer and procurement contracts, identifying and addressing compliance risks across departments (e.g., Finance, Operations, Sales, HR), drafting, implementing and updating policies, conducting audits, providing training, and serving as the compliance point of contact for the parent company of our Client.
  • Advise on legal and regulatory developments in the transport sector and upcoming and emerging laws impacting the Client.
  • Conduct compliance assessments of the Client's customer and procurement contracts; present findings to the relevant departments; and prepare contractual amendments where necessary.
  • Review the Client's contractual documentation for compliance with laws and regulations; assess areas that require further revision; and implement the changes.
  • Identify compliance risks and potential risks within the departments (e.g., Finance, Operations, Sales, HR) and take a leading role in developing, drafting and implementing solutions (e.g., policies, processes and procedures) that eliminate or mitigate the risk.
  • Draft, implement and update policies, processes and procedures to ensure compliance with laws and regulations and internal controls, and monitor the Client's adherence to those policies, processes and procedures.
  • Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to identify potential weaknesses and non-compliance; determine whether established policies, processes and internal controls are being adhered to; and draft and implement action plans to prevent, detect and mitigate risk.
  • Develop and implement company-wide communications and other communications to ensure that employees and staff are aware of their compliance obligations with policies and procedures, laws and regulations, and internal controls.
  • Draft and implement trainings on the Client's policies (e.g., Code of Business Conduct, Conflicts of Interest, Gifts and Hospitality, Preventing Anti-Competitive Practices) and regularly provide trainings to the the Client's departments.
  • Create a compliance resource library and a Q&A guide for employees and staff to refer to when they have questions.
  • Serve as the designated compliance contact to the Client's parent company
Leading international company|Collaborative work environment
  • A Master of Law Degree with an LL.M or Compliance Certificate
  • A minimum of 7 years of proven experience in a compliance role (with experience in conducting investigations)
  • Understanding of transport laws
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision or day-to-day direction
  • Highly collaborative and able to work at all levels of the organization
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, including the ability to make presentations at the senior management and board level
  • Excellent proficiency in Dutch and English (knowledge of French is a plus)
