Job Description:Role Overview:Huntsman has an interesting job opportunity of Application Technologist in Tienen. Apply today!Role Responsibilities:As an Application Technologist, you will be responsible for:
  • Converting broad development programs, into detailed work plans and as necessary lead the introduction of the resulting systems at Customer facilities.
  • Defining, executing and managing development programs to deliver new composite resin or foam technologies within an agreed time scale, whilst also running customer trials to prove technology.
  • Approaching problems in alternative and/or innovative ways, thus contributing significantly to the development of novel technology.
  • Having an in-depth knowledge of technology and the effect of the raw materials on the properties and the processing in order to independently be able to modify formulations of composite resins or foams.
  • Acquiring market intelligence, specifically in the (automotive) composite and EV battery applications sector wherever possible and communicating the acquired information to relevant Huntsman Personnel.
  • Acting as technical project leader and participating in technology transfer to other sites and regions and providing technical support as required.
  • Ensuring that all existing safety standards and procedures are fully met in accordance with existing policies and company objectives.
Experience and Competencies:We are looking for experienced candidates with excellent communication skills and a solution focused approach.What we are looking for:
  • Must have a Bachelor or Master's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Polymer Physics and preferably a couple of years of relevant working experience. Ideally a good working understanding of general science, business, and economic principles.
  • A good knowledge of composite manufacturing techniques (e.g., RTM, SMC) as well as a fundamental understanding of the resin requirements needed to produce glass or carbon fibre-reinforced polyurethane composite parts is a strong plus.
  • A good understanding of material mechanical testing set-up and data analysis are required. Ability to translate measurement data into computer simulation model data is a plus.
  • Good communication, teamwork and relationship-building skills are essential at all levels, both with internal as well as external customers.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to reorganize the workload in accordance to changing priorities and to maximize the output of the team.
  • Fluent in English. Knowledge of any other European language is an asset.
