Your Responsibilities:

As the High-Throughput Senior Specialist – Downstream Process Development, the following will be part of your responsibilities:

You are responsible for the design and execution of experiments, following the Quality by Design Framework; you plan the experiments applying statistical approach, mechanistic and/or hybrid modeling.

You will be responsible for the organization of Lab activities for different projects/ technologies (Manpower, logistics…) and you may actively participate in these activities.

You will report the results in a comprehensive form after interpretation and extensive quality check of the raw data. You will suggest improvements and offer perspective for further developments.

You will write experimental procedures and scientific reports, prepare and present scientific data, defend scientific and technical decisions at various technical boards.

You will make sound scientific and technical decisions based on a balance of data, analysis and experience.

You will ensure proper transfer of Purification processes and in-process assays to internal or external partners such as Scale-up, Clinical Manufacturing etc.

You will benchmark specific technologies in own functional area to bring technology to state of the art.

You ensure proactive scientific/technology watch within your own competency domain as well as share know-how and support others in their development.

You provide scientific and technical leadership in your own area of expertise and spread knowledge across the whole organization, also supporting other Vaccines’ projects upon need.

Part of your role will be to improve process understanding and control to meet the growing requirement by Regulatory Authorities through capability building.

You may also be responsible for technical follow-up of external collaborations.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

PhD in sciences or equivalent acquired through professional experience (Chemistry, Biochemistry or a Biotechnology orientation), Bio-Engineering degree, Master’s Degree in (Bio)-Chemistry or Biology.

Solid experience in Downstream process development (at least 4 to 7 years in Bio-pharma related domain).

Experienced in the use and programming of Liquid Handling Stations (TECAN, Hamilton).

Demonstrated knowledge and competency in the specific area of the purification and analysis of biologic material such as proteins, polysacharides, Virus Like Particles, conjugation chemistry.

Good knowledge of analytical techniques for biological material.

Experience in project management.

Interest for laboratory work and lab management is an important aspect of this role.

Fluent in spoken and written English scientifically/technically as well as conversational are a MUST. Being able to communicate in French or willing to learn is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics it would be a plus:
  • Experience in technology transfer and scale-up of Drug Substance processes is a plus.
  • Good understanding of bio-pharma / vaccine development processes.
  • Relevant experience in data interpretation, statistical approaches, chemometrics and modeling and use of associated software (JMP, R, Shiny, Simca , Pyhton…)
  • Understanding of operations & GMP manufacturing is an asset.
  • Experience in the implementation of Process Analytical Technologies (PAT) and their integration in closed-loop system (Automation).
  • Awareness of Quality by Design and Life-cycle Process Validation requirements.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate at all levels of the organization in order to meet objective or deliverable.
  • Good stakeholder management and excellent communication skills are necessary to meet needed mindset and behavioral changes that will be required by the business.
  • Good knowledge and experience with high throughput automated equipment (recipe setup and execution).
  • Team spirit, autonomy, scientific rigor, analytical mindset & strong networking skills.
  • Good organization skills (day-to-day operations and lab management).
  • Ability to drive change, flexible thinking and having an open mind to imbed change.
  • Continuous scientific curiosity.
