Offer DescriptionThe trend today is for “Battery-free equipment” to be deployed on the edge. Despite this can be done using dedicated PMICs (Power Management Integrated Circuits) together with ULP (Ultra Low-Power) microcontrollers/microprocessors, it remains a substantial challenge to infer when the energy is available. Monitoring the amount of energy within a battery, or within an SC (Super-Capacitor), could be used to determine when an energy-greedy task should be initiated, or when it should be stopped.Your mission will be to search for a software solution for both environments: bare-metal environment, or when an embedded OS (Operating System) is running. You will work in a multicultural, and multidisciplinary, environment at the leading edge of the tech industry. The issues you will address are at the forefront of the present-day concerns, and the software you will design is expected to be released for production.RequirementsResearch Field Computer science Education Level Master Degree or equivalentSkills/QualificationsYou have a deep interest for the lowest abstraction layers, the hardware interfaces, and the communication protocols; You are fluent in English (French is a plus); You are able to work autonomously within a team; You are a passionate and committed person; You are quality minded; You easily communicate and share your ideas with others, you are able to adapt your language and to popularize complex concepts.Specific RequirementsYou are fluent in C/C++ and you perfectly understand the Assembly language ;Knowledge of the CMSIS standard is a plus;A previous experience with microcontrollers/microprocessors (ARM architectures) is considered as an asset; You are sensitized to energy impacts of the IoT and IIoT sectors.Languages FRENCH Level BasicLanguages ENGLISH Level ExcellentResearch Field Computer science Years of Research Experience 1 - 4Additional InformationEligibility criteriaMaster degree in Computer Science, or in a related discipline, that opens access to the doctoral school in the field of computer science.Additional commentsYou will share your time between the University of Namur and the e-peas company in Louvain-La-Neuve.
