In support of the Head of EO Regional People Services, you will work with the wider International People function and support the head office of QBE Europe SA/NV, part of ‘QBE European Operations’ (EO) to provide high quality support to business managers on People issues and processes.The position will be based in Brussels.Your new role
  • Successfully manage annual processes for respective business areas (e.g. salary review, annual bonus application, performance management, headcount and people cost budgeting etc..) to ensure effective and compliant application
  • Help define and implement actions in terms of :
Living the QBE values, Development plans, Coaching, Training, Succession planning, Key people, People Management, Employee Relations, Work environment, Job descriptions & evaluations, Performance management, Merit & Bonus, Recruitment, Retention
  • Compensation & Benefits: apply the QBE group remuneration policy and support in all local legal requirements (local legislation, tax rulings, sector and company CBA’s where applicable); optimise benefits
  • For all People related matters, ensure a follow-up of all legal aspects: keep up-to-date with new legislation, anticipate and take all necessary actions
  • Attract, develop, and retain a high-quality People team in Belgium with the knowledge and skills to deliver excellent People outcomes and service
  • Acquire business intelligence (by developing knowledge and understanding of business area and its strategies people priorities, issues and challenges) to inform and contribute to the development and alignment of the People service delivery
  • Define and implement the local People strategy with local management in line with the enterprise
  • Promote and implement the QBE values and essential behaviours (QBE DNA)
  • Appropriate deployment, and contribution, to the development of policies, processes and procedures in line with QBE People Strategy, to best meet the needs of the business
  • Represent the local entity in projects/initiatives to ensure local requirements are understood and successfully implemented.
  • Coach, educate and support business leaders on ER issues and projects ensuring that practical, flexible and commercial solutions are determined
  • Build and maintain strong and effective relationships with key internal and external business stakeholders to ensure that service delivery meets the expectation of key business stakeholders
  • Lead and project manage implementation of People change initiatives within the area of responsibility
  • Comply with all NBB/FSMA/Lloyds/PRA/FCA requirements where applicable.
  • Actively undertake personal development to ensure up to date knowledge and skills
  • Oversee the monitoring and review of processes in order to identified improvements which will enhance efficiency and reflect latest developments and best practice.
  • Network internally and externally in order to learn from others; sharing knowledge and information to improve performance.
Your profile
  • Proven experience in a People Country Manager position preferably in Financial Services, ideally in a regulated environment
  • High level of written and spoken English
  • Strong Leadership skills
  • Excellent communicator with strong facilitation, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent presentation skills – oral and written
  • Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company
  • In-depth knowledge of labour law and HR best practices
  • Change management disciplines
