Headquartered in Europe, the company has employees working in more than 25 countries.The Product Line Personal Health, headquartered in Leuven, develops application specific IC’s for use in “Hearing Aids and Implants”- and “Personal Health monitoring” applications.Following the success of our Product Line, we are expanding our team and are looking for a Development Manager- System and Digital.Your responsibilitiesThe Development Manager leads competence teams or groups, and continuously assesses, builds, maintains and improves the competence(s). Further he/she has a Interface role to other sites and/or organizations that cover activities related to the same competence area.As a Development Manager you are responsible for:Line Management:
  • Leads a System and Digital competence teams with development engineers
  • Driver in improvement process
  • Provision / Guidance of resources (tools / people / equipment)
  • Resource assignment to projects / programs
  • Represents own resources within the pipeline and resource management process
  • Coaching / mentoring of teams and staff
  • Driving subcontracting / outsourcing decisions and execution within own competence area.
  • Carry out performance and potential appraisals
  • Coaching of key employees (help them to focus on their own career development)
  • Drive Management Development and Technical Ladder activities, identify key players in the group and apply measures to retain talent.
  • Recommend BL/PL R&D world class execution strategy
  • Responsible for deployment of relevant quality standards in the group (via assurance in Development processes, Competence management, …)
Competence Management
  • Development of competencies, skills, capabilities
  • Development and maintenance of competency matrix and training plan, hiring of staff
  • Recommend BL/PL R&D architecture, platform and IP strategy
  • Recommend BL/PL innovation/research strategy
Product Creation & Demand Fulfilment
  • Active involvement in the acceptance of projects, the planning of these, proper BCaM milestone passing, staffing of the projects and coaching of project team members
  • Is responsible for improving the way of working in all business processes.
  • Constantly challenges the way things are being done..
  • Actively involved in climbing the quality ladder.
  • Strategic development direction, advanced studies, technical guidance
  • Contribution to BL strategies and roadmaps
  • Driving development and introduction of new methods develop and maintain best practices
  • Responsible for the project execution performance in terms of schedule, budget, quality and function for the scope of his team. Works closely with Project Managers to achieve this.
Financial Management
  • Plan Capital spending and Rolling Financial forecast based on product roadmap for own competence domain
  • Actively drives to make the groups expenses as clear and controllable as possible.
  • Actively drives cost efficiency
Process ownership
  • Drives the deployment and maintenance of established Processes and procedures within on competence domain
  • Participates in external and internal audits (ISO, CMMI…) pertaining to his role and responsibilities
Your profileTo be successful in this role you have:
  • You are a Master or Bachelor in Engineering.
  • You have a strong experience in low power system development, IC HW development and a exposure to HW/SW co development
  • You have capability to lead a team of System and digital IC design engineers
  • You have aspirations to grow as a people manager with technical content
  • You have experience working in organizations compliant to ISO9001 and CMMI standards.
  • You are pro-active and creative, quality-oriented and structured way of working
  • Good communication and English language skills are a necessity
  • You will be working in Leuven, with occasional travel abroad.
