The Newbuilding Department is involved from the preliminary design stage. Fleet managers are responsible for the maintenance and equipment of the existing fleet. Every project is different and each time the optimal configuration is put together. And if it doesn't exist, we make it ourselves!What you'll doAs an Electrical Installations Engineer, you will be responsible for the follow-up, from design to commissioning and maintenance, of the wide range of electrical installations on board our ships: energy storage systems, frequency drives, generators, low-voltage and high-voltage switchboards,...Your main tasks and responsibilities are:
Drawing up a basic design and determining the specifications of the electrical installations on board.
Elaborating the specifications and following up the construction plans with regard to construction.
Looking for the most suitable suppliers at home and abroad.
Monitoring the actions of shipyards, suppliers and subcontractors.
Monitoring the construction and commissioning of electrical installations.
Participating in retrofits and repairs of our existing electrical installations.
Assess possible innovations for technical and economic feasibility.
Consult with colleagues to optimise the daily maintenance of the electrical ship installations.
What do you need?You have a Bachelor's or Master's degree with option Electrotechnology/Electronics or Electromechanics or Energy and you are able to apply your knowledge in the short term to the installations for our dredging and offshore vessels. You will work from the office in Aalst, but will regularly be abroad for longer periods to follow up on activities of the fleet or at suppliers, among other things.You have an analytical mind to design and improve systems.
