About the role:In Jan De Nul, we take pride in our fleet and infrastructure. We construct our own high-tech and diverse ships, ensuring they are functional, comfortable, and aesthetically top-notch. As an Industrial Designer/Architect specializing in Interior Design, you play a key role in this process. You design and oversee the interior layout of our own facilities and ship accommodations, from new construction to renovations. What you’ll do:As an Interior Architect, you are responsible for designing, evaluating, and overseeing the interior design of our ships and buildings. You ensure that every interior is not only visually appealing but also sustainable, ergonomic, and tailored to the needs of our users.
  • Designing the interiors of new and existing ships, offices, and other buildings, with a focus on material quality, user-friendliness, and aesthetics.
  • Preparing design plans and technical specifications for interior design.
  • Updating and adjusting designs based on user input.
  • Reviewing and approving interior design plans, technical specifications, and production drawings from external partners and suppliers.
  • Supervising the execution of interior finishes during construction and renovation, including material and finish inspections.
  • Ordering materials and furniture, and following up on deliveries and installations.
  • Playing an active role in new construction projects, renovations, and refurbishments of existing infrastructure.
What do you need?
  • A degree in Industrial Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or equivalent through experience.
  • Relevant experience in interior design, preferably in a technical or maritime context.
  • Strong affinity for material selection, ergonomics, and finishing techniques.
  • A keen eye for detail, a sense of aesthetics, and a focus on functionality.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with technical teams and end users.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, especially AutoCAD.
  • Good command of Dutch and English.
