Through our purpose of ‘Redefining Packaging for a Changing World’ and our sustainability strategy, we are committed to leading the transition to the circular economy, while delivering more circular solutions for our customers and wider society – replacing problem plastics, taking carbon out of supply chains and providing innovative recycling solutions.Headquartered in London and a member of the FTSE 100, DS Smith operates in 34 countries employing around 30,000 people.About the roleThe Financial Planning & Control department is a key support to the Packaging Division Finance Director and the wider Divisional Management team, providing insightful analysis of the financial position, trends, opportunities and risks of the Division and recommending improvement actions and forward-looking plans.As a Finance Controller, you will drive the Financial Support of Head Office’s legal entity. Working closely with the Shared Services Centre, you will perform general accounting and reporting activities in accordance with Group Accounting Policies and requirements; prepare monthly and yearly closing, drive the forecast, budget and corporate plan processes.Your remit will include but not limited to:Financial Reporting & Analysis:Drive the Closing, Forecast, Budget and Corporate Plan process for the Head Office. Review and present to Divisional management Team, and identify opportunities to ensure on-target deliveryProvide appropriate and timely financial reports covering various metrics, including monthly management accounts and variance analysis. Hold regular reviews with the respective budget holders to ensure acceptance and ownership. Identify and agree improvement actions where neededSupport Group and Divisional reporting requirementsAccounting Activities:Cooperate closely with Shared Service Centre, in order to perform accurate and timely monthly and yearly closingSetting up recurring and reversing/accrual journalsEnsure that all general ledger accounts are reconciled on a timely basisResponsible for the Head Office Operational Support and Services fees (management fees), including calculation of the Support Fees and liaising with Group Tax where requiredContact point for audit reviews internal and external.About youMasters Degree in Finance/Economics or AccountingSignificant experience of management and financial reporting, ideally gained in a global matrix environmentAbility to work independently to prepare monthly reports and analysisGood knowledge of SAP or equivalent ERP, including understanding of end-to-end finance processes; exposure to Hyperion/HFMGood level of knowledge of IFRS standardsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills and fluency in written and spoken EnglishA competent Microsoft Office software user.BenefitsCompetitive salaryDiscretionary bonusAnnual entitlement to eco vouchersMeal vouchersEntitlement to enrolment in the standard company hospitalisation schemeLocation: Brussels – hybrid
