Our compression station in Zelzate is located at the intersection of two major arteries in our gas network: the DN 900 Zelzate - Desteldonk (a branch of the VTN pipeline Eynatten - Zeebrugge) and the DN 600 Zomergem – Kallo.
Since the end of 2008, four electrically driven centrifugal compressors have provided the necessary pressure in both pipelines and in all four directions.
It is technically possible to compress in both pipelines simultaneously. Moreover, gas can be transferred from one pipeline to the other. In other words, the exchange possibilities are maximal.
There are a total of ten different switching options. The station thus forms a key link between the LNG terminal in Zeebrugge and the Loenhout storage.
It also plays a crucial role in supplying the port of Antwerp and can help manage the increased supply of high-calorific natural gas via the Netherlands.Your responsibilities
