Strategic Communications Consultant - EUFuture AdvocacyBrussels, BelgiumLocation: Brussels (we work flexibly with at least 2-3 days per week together in the office and the rest from home).
Contract Type: Full-time, fixed term until 31 December 2026 (with the potential to extend, depending on funding).
Start Date: 5 January 2026.
Reports to: Senior Advocacy and Campaigns Consultant.
Salary and Benefits: €35-40k depending on experience, plus a discretionary annual bonus, a 6% employer pension contribution, and the right to work from any location for up to 25 working days per year.

This is a great opportunity to be quickly immersed in a small, dynamic organisation that places a strong focus on team and personal development. The successful candidate will quickly develop their skills in strategic communications further, building from their experience to explore new creative ways to have an impact via media, social media and campaigns. They will work closely with the Senior Advocacy and Campaigns Consultant, EU Director and other senior leaders as part of our small and energetic team.The Strategic Communications Consultant - EU will support the team in implementing a major new project supported by the Gates Foundation. This project is in the early stages of launching the ‘Strategic Communications and Advocacy Lab (SCAL)’ at the EU level. The Lab is designed to shift dominant narratives around Official Development Assistance (ODA), and to create the political space for government action on this.Responsibilities will include:
  • Driving the implementation of this flagship Gates Foundation-funded initiative in the EU, aimed at shifting narratives around international development and enhancing political support for global cooperation;
  • Coordinating with partner stakeholders and other consultants to support the design and delivery of bold, high-impact communications and advocacy strategies at the EU level and in a set of targeted EU countries;
  • Supporting the SCAL EU team in pitching stories to the media, building relationships with journalists, recruiting unexpected champions of ODA;
  • Planning and delivering advocacy, events and campaigns work across the SCAL workstreams;
  • Leading on effective project management of SCAL at the EU level;
  • Contributing to social media, website and blogs as well as the team’s development, culture, and happiness;
  • Other tasks as required.
We would love to hear from you if you meet the criteria below
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field;
  • Demonstrable experience of 2-6 years in communications and at least one of the following: advocacy, research or campaigning;
  • Experience with media relations, media monitoring tools and in designing and implementing strategic communication strategies;
  • Ability to deliver work accurately in a fast-paced but supportive environment;
  • First-class writing and verbal communications skills in English at native level or equivalent;
  • Digital skills, including experience in the effective and ethical use of AI tools and of social media;
  • An excellent eye for attention to detail and quality;
  • Interest in and knowledge of EU politics;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Enthusiasm, flexibility, and ability to manage competing priorities;
  • Ability to represent the organisation to high level individuals;
  • Willingness to undertake routine admin tasks.
Nice to Have:
  • Professional proficiency in Dutch, Polish or Italian;
  • An interest and knowledge of international development.
