Legal Advisor Capital Markets

• Equity Capital Market transactions (ECM) such as Initial Public Offerings (IPO), Rights Issues, Accelerated Bookbuild (ABO), take-over bids and public M&A; debt capital markets transactions (DCM) such as issuing commercial paper, private placements and public offerings of bonds including green bonds;

• KBC Group treasury transactions such as issuing AT1, T2, MREL senior debt, and covered bonds; structured note, warrants and other products.

• You will draft, revise and negotiate contracts and documents related to capital market transactions (ECM, DCM, treasury). This way, you will experience first-hand how the KBC Group operates in the various capital markets. You will be involved in transactions from the very start.
• You will actively monitor relevant developments in financial law and other legal domains which are relevant to the capital markets, at the Belgian and European levels. All this will help you further expand your expertise and contribution to shaping policy.
• You will advise the business on the impact of developments. You will help ensure that new laws and regulations are implemented within KBC and you will lobby on these matters.
• When developing new products, you will advise business stakeholders regarding the statutory framework.
• You will proactively seek out opportunities to streamline regulatory implementation and enhance collaboration with the deal team, including the strategic and technical implementation aspects.
• You will train and coach colleagues in your areas of expertise.

• You have a Master's in Law, preferably from a Belgian university. Financial law and the world of capital markets fascinate you.
• Thanks to your previous transactional experience, of at least three years, you have considerable expertise in negotiating as well as drafting and revising contracts. Experience in capital markets (ECM and/or DCM) will be an advantage.
• This vacancy is also open to candidates with transactional experience in other domains such as finance, lending, private equity or M&A who want to broaden their experience and learn more about capital markets.
• You communicate clearly and convincingly in English and have at least a passive knowledge of Dutch. You are a confident negotiator.
• You have the energy and enthusiasm to see a transaction or project through to a successful conclusion, and you succeed because you organise your own work efficiently, make clear agreements and set the right priorities.
• Even when under pressure or when facing resistance from other parties, you remain constructive and solution-oriented.
• You like to build bridges and enjoy the role of business partner. You look beyond the status quo and see opportunities to make structural improvements.
