Which is where you come in.What you will be doingWe are currently looking for a Business Development Controller to join the team in Brussels, Belgium. In this role you will be focusing on the business modelling and planning in relation to business development initiatives, capex files, M&A and estimates around future product and process developments.In these initiatives you will work in close interaction with the sales and supply teams, as well as, Product Program Management, Process Technology and the Engineering departments, but also with colleagues in operational controlling and capex, including local plant controllers.Responsibilities:
Support Battery Materials effort in managing current, and new, large customer accounts (multi-year contracts). This entails both assessment of new leads with potential investment requirements, but also customer accounts follow-up to continuously reflect latest negotiations, product and process cost estimates, as well as, new ideas around business set up to identify profitable business opportunities.
Contribute to the team's effort through dedicated business modelling per plant and customer, potentially participating to customer meetings and through interface with relevant internal departments.
Follow-up and support ongoing Joint Ventures' business plan elaboration, exchange and coordination with Umicore departments providing operational and cost information, but also challenging assumptions by the JV's finance and management team.
Contribute to the Strategy Update and Integrated Budged Plan with modelling of the EU plants, this requires close collaboration within the BDC team but also with Plant Controllers and Opex & Capex controlling for accurate forecasting.
Financial Modelling and presentation of investment files for BM Management team in coordination with the Director of Business Development Controlling. Work autonomously on capex files.
Pricing Quote financial assessments and advice concerning potential new business risks and opportunities
M&A files participation under supervision of the BD Controlling Director
Who we are looking forRequirements:
7+ years of experience in Finance/Supply Chain topics
Master's degree, preferably in Finance, Business Administration or Economics
Understanding of business and its flows (purchase, sales, production, supply chain, …)
Fluent in English - both verbal and written (Dutch and French are a plus)
Strong Excel skills, preferably with experience in financial modelling
Basic understanding of primary IFRS
Keen on software applications for Controlling, Planning and Finance and basic SAP modules
Prepared to travel occasionally in Europe but also Asia and North America
Flexibility to work in a dynamic environment and switch between different work topics
Proactive in reaching out to colleagues and other departments to get their inputs
Strong analytical skills with inclination towards understanding the end-to-end picture and business logic (able to grasp complex flows), while retaining great attention for details
Strong business acumen, able to bring recommendation and influence decision
Good team player, willing to support extra efforts when needed
Solid organization skills
Curiosity to learn and ask questions and proactive in coming up with new solutions
